[@CloudedOtter] I can’t pick a favorite though... Can I just have all the dads?
Welcome! I like your avatar!
This Emily Dickinson poem is one of my favorites: A Counterfeit—a Plated Person— I would not be— Whatever strata of Iniquity My Nature underlie— Truth is good Health—and Safety, and the Sky. How meagre, what an Exile—is a Lie, And Vocal—when we die— Two more favorites are The Old Astronomer by Sarah Williams, and The Two Headed Calf by Laura Gilpin: Tomorrow when the farm boys find this freak of nature, they will wrap his body in newspaper and carry him to the museum. But tonight he is alive and in the north field with his mother. It is a perfect summer evening: the moon rising over the orchard, the wind in the grass. And as he stares into the sky, he sees twice as many stars as usual.
I think that [@Diana] is on to something – it might not (just) be something eating them! I finished Shay's secret quest and it seems like the high birth rate has more to do with combating the hostile, rapidly-changing environmental conditions created by the Everstorm: (I still want sea monsters though...)
